Rail-Bridge has Filed a New Domestic Per Diem Policy

March 1, 2006 - Please be advised that, due to the growing premium being placed on “K” Line equipment, Rail-Bridge has filed a new domestic per diem policy with the U.I.I.A., which will become effective on April 1, 2006. This new policy, as described below, will become part of a revised Rail-Bridge Rules Circular that will be mailed to you shortly.

APPENDIX B: THE RAIL-BRIDGE CORPORATION

In the absence of any specific Agreement with the Motor Carrier the following free time shall be allowed and the following use charges assessed the Motor Carrier when equipment is in interchange for DOMESTIC shipments pertaining to movements loaded to or discharged from train services arranged by THE RAIL BRIDGE CORPORATION DIVISION.

FREE TIME:

  1. On all empty containers and chassis, the day of interchange and the first five
    (5) calendar days after the day of interchange will be considered days of grace during which no charges will be made for the use of the equipment (container and/or chassis). The per diem charges as per “TABLE OF CHARGES” will be assessed for each day or portion thereof until the equipment is returned.

  2. On all loaded containers and chassis, the day of notification of availability and the first five (5) calendar days thereafter, commencing from 2400 midnight of the day of notification, will be considered days of grace during which no charges will be made for the use of the equipment (container and/or chassis). The per diem charges as per “TABLE OF CHARGES” will be assessed for each day or portion thereof until the equipment is returned.

To summarize, we're adding a day of free time at each end, while more realistically pricing our per diem charge thereafter. The first weekend during free time will no longer be a part of our calculation.

All of us at Rail-Bridge look forward to continuing to service your intermodal needs. For any questions or comments you might have, please do not hesitate to call Gary Findon at (610) 759-3791, or Abby Eckert at (908) 286-1546.
