Increase in Fuel Surcharge

July 24, 2008 -Due to changes in the railroads' underlying charges, we will be increasing our fuel surcharge to 46%, effective 8/1/08. Unfortunately, in these volatile times, we can expect occasional adjustments based on the rising fuel costs being experienced by all transportation related industries.

Please advise all of the appropriate staff in each of your offices, so that no one has to learn of this fsc adjustment after the fact. Nobody likes surprises that cost money.

Since fuel surcharges have been assessed on rail shipments, we have been loathe to pass on the entire costs to our valued customers. We can no longer absorb this difference and, so, will adjust our fuel surcharge on a monthly basis from here on, based on fuel charges assessed within our industry.
